Biogeochemical study of mesozoic Archosauromorpha from La Rioja Province

Preservation, paleoenvironment and paleoecology

The main objective is the palaeoenvironmental and palaeoecological characterisation of the mesozoic Archosauromorpha from La Rioja province through biogeochemical analyses (mainly isotopic). Also, the physiological evolution from different representatives of this clade in terms of thermoregulation will be explored, from its basal forms in the Middle Triassic (Fm Chañares) to its more derived forms in the Upper Cretaceous (Fm Los Llanos). We will document the preservation of Archosauromorpha fossils (teeth, bones, eggs), investigate the incubation strategies based on the data obtained from the palaeoenvironment and the palaeobiology of the dinosaurs and the conditions of fossilisation and diagenetic processesand. With clumped isotopes, compare the body temperature of different representatives of the clade Archosauromorpha.

This project is in collboration with Léa Leuzinger, Pablo Horacio Alasino, Julia Brenda Desojo, Universidad Nacional de La Rioja, Argentina, Torsten Vennemann, Universtiy of Lausanne.
